Social Democrats' president Mircea Geoana wrote an open letter asking Romanian President Traian Basescu and PM Calin Popescu Tariceanu to resign. Geoana accused the latter of cheating on Romanians' expectations and promoting "lies" and "groups of occult interests". He also accused the Alliance at rule of not keeping promises and leading society to conflicts. He opined that the prime minister was "treading" on prosecutors' independence, just as the head of state was tacitly consenting. (R.A.)
