Romanian citizens have to crowd at the gates of Western embassies to get visas, despite claims to join the European Union. Authorities look down at people from behind wire fences, while hundreds of people wait for hours on end in front of embassies, having no water or shelter. From the break of dawn till the hot afternoon, Romanians wait for a meeting with some irritated clerk The embassies, the Foreign Affairs Ministry, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Administration as well as Bucharest City Hall know about it, but they don't lift a finger to spare citizens of such humiliation. Three weeks ago ZIUA made one more appeal, but things haven't improved for Romanians in need of visas.
