Intellectuals and politicians have elaborated an "Appeal to Solidarity for Fighting Corruption". Starting from the no vote on the emergency ordinance to establish the National Anti-Corruption Department, they are asking politicians to respect national interest and express support for "all those taking part in Justice." (...) The authors opine that senators' decision to deny the National Anti-Corruption Department means harming the credibility of the ongoing Justice reform and destroying Romanians' hope, as well as compromising the EU accession calendar. They have appealed to solidarity for protecting the independence of Justice and supporting the fight of corruption. Here are some of the authors: Gabriel Liiceanu, Nicolae Manolescu, Mircea Mihaies, Dan C. Mihailescu, Mona Musca, Horia-Roman Patapievici, Andrei Plesu, Valeriu Stoica. (R.G.)
