PD (the Democrat Party) decided to name no new minister to replace Mircea Miclea who had resigned until more funds were provided for the field of education. The Democrats are determined to go that far as not to vote for the budget project unless funds for education reach about 5% of the internal raw product. And Mircea Miclea won't change his mind about resignation, claims PD president Emil Boc. The stubbornness of PD leader irritated PM Calin Popescu Tariceanu so much that he said it clearly he might quit unless the Democrats voted for the budget on 2006. But for now Democrat and Liberal leaders have come to terms, after it was decided that the education budget would be provided with extra funds coming from the cut on budgets for Senate and the Chamber of Deputies. PD members chose vice prime minister Gheorghe Pogea to identify more sources for education funds. (...)
Democrats dissatisfied that Cotroceni directions are disobeyed
Democrat sources claim that PD ministers got severely scolded for not having talked to party leaders about funds for the ministries they ruled before the Executive agreed to the budget project. PD leaders opined that the budget disobeyed priorities set in the program for ruling, which was most visible in education.
Emil Boc didn't confirm the PM's irritation, saying that in the Alliance meeting they had "political and technical talk" and searched for solutions. When asked if PD members might not vote for the budget in Parliament unless extra sources for education were identified, Emil Boc answered this decision was not on the PD agenda. But the Democrat leader said his party would name no education minister until the education budget problem was solved.
