Hungarian MPs from FIDESZ wouldn't attend voting on the ratification of Romania's treaty of accession to the European Union, says Mediafax. 60 MPs from FIDESZ left the Parliament hall as protest, before the voting on the above-mentioned treaty.
Liberal deputy Matyas Eorsi explained: "The 60 MPs from FIDESZ left the hall like cowards before the voting. They thus refused to support common efforts to do away with the consequences of the Treaty of Trianon." Eorsi said he was shocked at such attitude.
The Liberal deputy also reminded that the Liberal-Democrats, the Socialists and the Conservatives agreed all that Romania's accession to the EU was one of the most important objectives of Hungary's national strategy. On Monday the 386-member Parliament of Hungary passed the law on the ratification of the EU accession treaties of Romania and Bulgaria due to 257 favotable votes.(...) (D.E.)
