From double political play as visible in the their permanent oscillation between PSD (the Social-Democrat Party) and the Coalition and in the search for European affiliation, Dan Voiculescu's Conservatives suddenly jumped to far-fetched opinions on the editorial policies of some main dailies in Romania. Bogdan Pascu, Conservatives' leader in the Chamber of Deputies, expressed accusation against ZIUA and Evenimentul Zilei, saying behind these dailies there were the Conservatives' "enemies", businessman Sorin Ovidiu Vantu and Romanian president Traian Basescu. (...) This accusation emerged after the above-mentioned dailies had just informed that the Conservatives were negotiating fusion with the National Liberal Party. Pascu swore the two parties were not having talks about fusion and started ungrounded attacks against the two dailies.
He even threatened passionately that the Conservative Party would complain against ZIUA and Evenimentul Zilei to CRP (the Romanian Press Club), because the two dailies disobeyed "journalistic deontology". (...)
