The Parliament of Europe, the Romanian members included, are already hot with the elections due in Ukraine in late September. Last week they decided on the members of the European Parliament's mission to observe elections. Romanian deputy Adrian Severin, a president of the Ukraine-EU Relations Committee, was the main favorite.
Still there were Romanian MEPs not wishing to support a Romanian familiarized with the region. The EPP-DE deputies from Romania supported British Charles Tannok, thus jeopardizing the odds of Adrian Severin. But due to 8 favorable polls he was assigned to be in charge of monitoring the scrutiny to take place in Ukraine. (D.E.)
